Day 56

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/24/2011 f/2 1/15th second
Someone brought these two balls into the office. I really like the red on the cricket ball

Day 55

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/22/2011 f/5.6 2 seconds
This is a 2 second exposure over the Midtown Tunnel. It was taken around 8:00 PM, and it was night by then. It looks so bright here.

Day 54

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/21/2011 f/2 1/8th second
This is one of the out buildings in Stuyevesant Park. It looks a little creepy in this photo...

Day 53

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/20/2011 f/4 1/60th second

There was so much read on this bike, and I knew it would pop on the Velvia film. Oh, I should mention that I accidentally shot this entire roll of film over exposed by one step, so the images will tend to look slightly blown out.

Day 52

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/20/2011 f/6 1/125th second
All over the East Village, but especial along St. Mark's Pl. You'll find mosaics on the light poles. They are pretty darn neat, and speak to the arts history of the neighbor hood. I saw the guy who does them once. An older guy. I think he just like the way it looks and likes talking to people while he works on them.

Day 51

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/20/2011 f/10 1/125th second
All robot wants is a high five. I've seen variations of this stencil scattered all over lower Manhattan. It amuses me greatly.

Day 50

Bessa R2 with 50mm f/2 Leica lens on
Fuji Velvia 50, 4/19/2011 f/2 1/4th second
I am amazed that this image came out like it did. At 1/4th of a second it is almost impossible to get a nice clean image like that. Here's Michelle working on knitting.

Day 49

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
Mmmmm.... Beer... I think it's a distributer, but I love the retro look of the signs.

Day 48

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
Behold! The traffic of NYC!

Day 47

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
I remember taking this picture, but I don't rememebr where it was. I /THINK/ it was down toward China town, but I am unsure.

Day 46

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
I think I was trying to showcase the flows on the trees in this one, sadly you can barely see them.

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Day 45

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
This almost looks black and white...

Day 44

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
This slide was bright bright blue. I think this film just doesn't capture the colors at all.

Day 43

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/18/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
Bit of a double exposure on this one. You can just barely see the remnant of an image of a vespa with sidecar. What you can see more clearly is an image of what was the first public housing build in NYC.

Day 42

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/8/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
I liked the look of the Neon. I cannot, for the life of me, remember where this was.

Friday, July 8, 2011

Day 41

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/7/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th

I think this is the path behind my apartment, but again... Not so good.

Thursday, July 7, 2011

Day 40

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/6/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
I'm not sure now if it was the age of the film or the camera... The vivid reds at this location just didn't show...

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Day 39

Kodak Brownie Hawkeye
4/5/2011 - F/16, 1/60 th
While it was fun to shoot with the old Brownie I'm really not crazy about the images I produced with it.

Day 37

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
4/3/2011 - F/5.6, 1/125 th, 35mm lens
Who says there are no trees in the city? I love this one. it looks like something from a Brothers Grimm story, from the woods, deep and dark.

Day 36

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
4/2/2011 - F/16, 1/125 th, 35mm lens
Can you see what's missing in this photo?

Day 35

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
4/1/2011 - F/16, 1/250 th, 35mm lens
A couple of lights near the Cooper Village apartments. I just love the monolithic impression they have. They look like light houses or something

Day 34

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/31/2011 - F/16, 1/125 th, 35mm lens
I do love to take pictures of this fountain on 1st Ave.

Day 33

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/30/2011 - F/2, 1/15 th, 35mm lens
Again, such a slow shutter speed I expected a softer image.

Day 32

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/29/2011 - F/11, 1/500 th, 35mm lens
This is the eventual fate of many bikes chained up in my neighborhood. First the wheels go, the parts. Eventually even the cranks and fork go, just leaving the frame to rust out.

Day 31

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/29/2011 - F/16, 1/500 th, 35mm lens
Drup Off? In my head a hear it said with a heavy Russian accent. Looks like the sun has been brutal on those vinyl letters.

Day 29

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/29/2011 - F/16, 1/500 th, 35mm lens
Children behind Bars!!!!!

day 28

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/30/2011 - F/2, 1/15 th, 35mm lens
The cat. Frequent model for my photos. Given the low shutter speed I'm amazed the image isn't blurred.

Day 27

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/25/2011 - F/16, 1/250 th, 35mm lens
The Empire State building. An icon. I remember being very impressed by it when I saw a picture of it as a child, and again when I saw it as an adult.

Day 26

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/24/2011 - F/16, 1/250 th, 35mm lens
Not sure what happened with exposure here...

Day 25

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/24/2011 - F/4, 1/125 th, 35mm lens
I am weirdly fascinated by the graffiti. Most of it (like this) is just tagging. I'm sure you'll see images of the more artful stuff in this blog...

Day 24

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/22/2011 - F/5.6, 1/60 th, 35mm lens
These basement access hatches are all over my neighborhood. This one stood out to be because of the sign.

Day 23

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/22/2011 - F/5.6, 1/60 th, 35mm lens
This looks way creepier in black and white. The fingers were spraypainted gold. I have no Idea what was up with that.

Day 22

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/22/2011 - F/5.6, 1/125 th, 35mm lens
This is a bench I walk past on my way to work. I love the way the perspective makes the scale of the image somewhat vague.

Day 21

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/19/2011 - F/4, 1/1000 th, 35mm lens

The Cube at Astor Place. You are assured to see more of this thing. I love taking pictures of it.

day 20

Nikon FE, Kodak TMaxx 400 ASA
3/18/2011 - F/8, 1/60 th, 35mm lens
Grand central station. I love the rows of lights at the bottom of the image.
